Frequently Asked Questions
-
The needles used are extremely fine, quite different from injection needles. Most patients feel only slight pressure or no discomfort at all. Some describe a brief sensation of heaviness or warmth at the point, which is normal and a sign that the body is responding to the treatment.
-
It depends on the condition and how long it has been present. Some straightforward cases may be resolved in a single session, while relatively recent complaints generally respond within 3 to 6 sessions. Chronic conditions may require longer-term treatment. Following the initial consultation, a personalised treatment plan is proposed based on each individual's needs.
-
The first consultation includes a comprehensive assessment based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This involves taking your medical history, observing your tongue, assessing your pulse, and discussing your symptoms and lifestyle. Based on this assessment, a diagnosis and personalised treatment plan are established.
-
TCM does not focus solely on the disease itself, but rather on the underlying pattern of imbalance that allows it to develop and persist. By addressing this pattern, the aim is to support the body's natural ability to regulate and restore itself.
In clinical practice, TCM is particularly sought after for musculoskeletal pain, stress and anxiety, digestive problems, sleep disorders, hormonal and fertility concerns, and migraines, among many other issues. However, its scope goes beyond any list of symptoms: it considers the body as a whole.
-
Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points on the body to help regulate its functions and restore homeostasis — the body's natural state of balance. Chinese herbal medicine uses carefully selected medicinal plant-based formulas to address the identified pattern of disharmony. The two approaches are often combined to enhance treatment outcomes.
-
No special preparation is required. We simply recommend avoiding arriving after a prolonged period without eating or immediately after a heavy meal. Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your arms and legs. Depending on your treatment, access to your abdomen and back may also be needed.
-
Traditional Chinese Medicine is generally considered safe when practised by a qualified practitioner. Certain circumstances, such as pregnancy, specific medical conditions, or medication use, may require adjustments to the treatment. For this reason, your medical history is always reviewed before any treatment is provided.
